District 11California’s 11th Senate District is the beating heart of the Bay Area encompassing San Francisco, Daly City, Colma, Broadmoor, and parts of San Bruno, South San Francisco, and unincorporated San Mateo County. We are home to families who’ve been rooted here for decades, and new arrivals chasing possibility.
This is a district shaped by resilience. We’ve endured earthquakes, fires, economic shocks, a global pandemic, and repeated waves of displacement—and every time, our communities have organized and rebuilt.
One of the most diverse districts in the entire country, San Francisco’s historic cultural neighborhoods—the Mission, Chinatown, Japantown, the Castro—stand alongside the vibrant Filipino, Latino, Pacific Islander, and Asian communities of Daly City, South San Francisco, and San Bruno. We speak dozens of languages, honor hundreds of traditions, and share one commitment: inclusion.
This district is also the birthplace of movements that reshaped America. From the longshore workers on the waterfront who helped ignite the modern labor movement, to the Mission’s Chicano activism, to the LGBTQ+ marches that began in the Castro and reverberated across the nation, District 11 has always been a proving ground for justice.
We’re also a district of unforgettable landmarks and living spaces. Golden Gate Park, McLaren Park, Ocean Beach, and Lake Merced are weaved into the everyday places that bring us together—schools, libraries, senior centers, small businesses, transit corridors, and neighborhood parks.
But above all, District 11 is defined by its people—and by our refusal to give up on one another. Whether we’re organizing for affordable housing, safer streets, climate resilience, or economic opportunity, our residents show up. Again and again. That spirit of solidarity is what makes this district extraordinary, and it’s what will carry us through the challenges ahead.
See if you are a District 11 resident here.
